BOOK, WHAT IS FENCER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TECHNIQUE AND TACTICS |
 |
| |
(Foil, epee,
sabre.) |
|
| |
Many
books have been published on fencing. These books have dealt
adequately with the principles of fencing, fundamentals of
maneuver as well as the application of tactics in both offensive
and defensive situations. However, at the same time , the
development of fencing in the last 30 years has resulted in
repeated changes in the rules regarding the manner in with fencing
bouts are conducted, as well as in the way in which fencing
competitions are run. International competition has also become
increasingly intense. All these changes have stimulated a search
for new techniques of technical and tactical preparation of
fencers. The system of fencing training presented in this book has
been developed over many years. It has grown out of the
operational experience of the authors as trainers, as well as
their pedagogical experiments and the analysis of their research.

BOOK, WHAT A SPORTSMAN
SHOULD KNOW ABOUT REFEREEING |
 |
| |
|
|
| |
Those
referees directly on the piste, who determine the outcome of the
bout, perform the most difficult and important part of the judging
process. The acquisition of the skills necessary for the judging
of fencing bouts (particularly in official competitions) takes a
considerable amount of time. However, for each fencer, the
acquisition of these skills is a reasonably realistic goal, since
the ability to judge bouts is based primarily on personal
experience in training and competitive bouts, during preparation
for which the basic rules of conducting bouts are learned. In
addition to that, the fencers, at first by ear, learn the main
judging terminology. The knowledge of the rules of bout conducting
is a mandatory condition for admission to official competitions.
However, in order to absorb the considerably large volume of
special information concerning participation in competitions, time
is required, particularly since fencing training usually starts at
an early age. This book will help you to learn the most important
principles of bout conducting and teach you how to apply these
principles during refereeing. |
